It’s no secret I have a serious thing for Santorini. It’s my dream destination, not only for the colors but for the view of course! Living in Washington is not quite as glamorous, but I think if I can manage to sneak in a little Greece up into the Northwest I can survive until I finally go…and stay there forever!
Aren’t those photos so pretty to look at?! I love all the colors overflowing in this place, all the white and blue. The textures are incredible and flat out breathtaking. If Santorini is what you’d like, let’s make it happen! Your outdoor space will look too cool when you’re done.
First up, the base! Start with a super crisp white for all the larger pieces of furniture – the chairs, sofas, coffee table, etc. If you look at the Santorini palette, there are so many beautiful white buildings with pops of color. If you work the larger pieces into that, you will be off to a good start. Also, it’s just a rule of thumb to buy expensive pieces in neutral tones so you can mix and match if your taste changes in the future. I’ll be the first to admit I learned this the hard way, especially after buying everything in pink and then buying a yellow sofa…I got tired of those real quick.
Next add the perfect blue shades to complement the white. I would use throws, pillows, and a large umbrella to capture the ocean feel. The textiles are great for movement to resemble the ocean. Sorry if that sounds corny, but I thought you would like to know my thought process on this, that cool? I also love the pops of yellow and bougainvillea. I’m not sure if I can grow it up here, but still.
