Everyone needs a Florida Room, am I right?!

I think most of us can agree we strive to go somewhere tropical for vacation, whether that’s the Bahamas or just heading to the beach for the weekend. When it comes to styling a home, I always try to pull in something light and airy to mimic that “vacation feel.” And why not? It’s calming, simple, and just so refreshing after being in an office all day. An awesome trend right now is “The Florida Room” and it’s something everyone should have. The whole idea is to stay neutral, with nods to the ocean and landscape of Florida. I’m all about bringing the outside in, so I have some tips for creating your own Florida Room, inspired by Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Check out more Florida homes for inspiration here!

Neutrals are where it’s at. I used to be scared to pair whites with beige and cream colors because I wasn’t sure if they would complement each other. Turns out they do, ha. Whites and neutral colors can easily be pulled together with different textures and layering. I also like adding light blues and some pastel pinks if that’s your thing.

Pull in natural elements, like plants and wood. This is probably my favorite. I love having a space that blends with its surroundings. My dream is to have floor to ceiling windows staring off into a jungle. Keep it simple with some wood pieces and even a few wicker pieces. Adding plants throughout the space also helps! I’m crazy about the table below!

My final tip is to just enjoy your Florida Room. Keep the TV out and put your phone away! This room is a space that you can just sit and relax, taking a break from life. I love reading and working on puzzles…I sound like I’m 70, but I’m not I promise. I really love Florida and all of its cultural history. I would probably move there tomorrow if I could.

photos look great! Although, I don’t know if I’d want to call those home. 🙂

Ha, yeah I can see some people not loving Florida, but it’s all good!
